The amazing illustrations found on vintage Fisher Price toys

I love love LOVE the vintage Fisher Price toys. They're super bright, playful and basically design classics. On most of these toys you'll find some pretty cool illustrations too. I've done a quick grab here from some of my favourites found in my collection.

I love them nearly as much as the fisher price dolls that came with the toys. And after a quick google search I came across some neat artwork inspired by the toys. Like the posters created by Hand Drawn Creative https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/109372421/vintage-fisher-price-airport-artprint?ref=shop_home_active_11 or the poster designed by Les Happy Vintage (seen below, although sadly sold out).

More searching found a very cool site who share my love for these vintage toys, Modern Kiddo with lots of blog entries including this one:

Hoarders delight! A 1980's treasure trove of birthday cards:

There are definitely some pros about being a hoarder like my mum (and me). She recently unearthed a box full of our birthday cards from the 1980's.

Ok, so it's not quite as exciting as the hidden posters discovered in the Notting Hill Tube Station (http://www.messynessychic.com/2013/01/07/the-secret-museum-entombed-in-the-notting-hill-underground/), but still pretty cool. And I'm particularly loving the bright 80's colour palette which I'll definitely be referencing.

Here are some of the gems:

MARGARET TIMMERS ‘A CENTURY OF OLYMPIC POSTERS' TALK

Just received my copy of  the book ‘A century of Olympic Posters' by Margaret Timmers. Had to go out and buy this book after hearing her fantastic talk at Ochre Print Studios last month. Margaret is a Monument Fellow at the V&A where she was formerly Senior Curator of Prints. Here are some of my favourite posters from the book. Inspiring stuff for my screenprinting this month at Ochre Print Studios.
