A series of risograph prints created from illustrations by Kate Maxwell from Design and Draw. These prints are inspired by Kate’s love of vintage packaging and anything kitsch, like the classic cracker toy, Fortune Teller, Miracle Fish.
Riso prints are made with a Risograph printer which looks like a photocopier and works like a screenprinter, using spot colours and stencils to create bright prints with a hand-printed look and feel.
Riso is a sustainable and highly energy-efficient printing method using soy-based and non-toxic inks. Printed onto 300gsm 100% Recycled Post-Consumer stock.
These prints were printed for Kate by Greg at Chugga Press, which sadly closed its doors in December 2022 so they are now very limited. Available to buy here https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DesignandDraw?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1346294962 and at the gallery shop, Not My Beautiful House in Kingston Market Place.

I was asked to design and illustrate this preschool wooden puzzle whilst freelancing for Le Toy Van. This was shortly after returning to work after the birth of my second child, her outfits and her toddler friends were inspiration for these little characters! You can mix and match the 6 pieces of this puzzle toy, complete with wooden tray, a fox, a wolf and a deer. Ethically made of solid sustainable legal wood and safe water based paints.
Selection of artwork created for greetings cards often inspired or taken from my original screenprints. These can be purchased in my Etsy shop here https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DesignandDraw and at the Farnham Maltings Shop and Not My Beautiful House Kingston various artist markets across the South East.
All my greetings cards come in a compostable sleeve and brown kraft envelope made from recycled paper. All digital greetings cards are printed in the UK onto paper that has been harvested in a responsible manner and prohibiting the use of highly hazardous chemicals with FSC mixed certified paper.
All screenprinted cards have been handprinted by me in my studio in Kingston Upon Thames using hand mixed inks and recycled card.
Please contact me with any queries, illustration commissions, bespoke greetings cards or if you can see something here but can’t find it in my shop: kate@designanddraw.com
